Hi everyone! My name is Matt Brockman, I’m a professional trumpet player, arranger, recording artist, and educator currently residing in the Savannah, GA area. I’m originally from the small town of Millstone Township in central New Jersey. When I was in fourth grade, my father (who is also a trumpet player) bought me my first trumpet and began giving me lessons. At first, music was just a hobby and another class for me. But when I got to high school I had the pleasure of being part of an incredible band program as well as a very above average trumpet section. I found it all so enjoyable that, I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in music. I eventually started to study with cornetist Daniel Berz and jazz trumpeter extraordinaire, Joe Mosello (The Maynard Ferguson Band).

After high school I attended Ithaca College where I earned bachelor’s degrees in both trumpet performance and music education. While at IC, I had the pleasure of studying with multiple trumpet professors, including Chris Coletti (Canadian Brass), Kim Dunnick (The Army Blues), and Michael Blutman (Broadway, NYC freelance). In addition, I also studied with the great Tom Boulton (New York Philharmonic) back in NJ throughout all of my semester breaks.

I have also performed at summer festivals such as the Sewanee Summer Music Festival where I studied with Peter Bond (Metropolitan Opera), and the Miami Music Festival where I studied with Vincent Penzarella (New York Philharmonic).

A few months prior to graduating college, I accepted a position as an army musician and relocated to Savannah, GA. In addition to his position, I enjoy freelancing in the Savannah and Hilton Head Island areas.

In January of 2020, I launched a Youtube Channel where I write and record (mostly) originally arrangements every week. Through my channel, I have networked and collaborated with musicians from all over the world, the first of these projects was my recording of “Fanfare for the Common Man, which received over 20,000 views across all platforms. In July of 2020, I was featured in a collaboration video that consisted of some of the top brass musicians on YouTube, including Christopher Bill, Seb Skelly, Carol Jarvis, Skatune Network, Trent Hamilton, Scott Sutherland, and Maeve Lander.
